Dear Supporters,
Thank you for continuing to stand with us in advocating for fairness and transparency in Alberta’s psychology registration process.
It has now been more than a month since the October 2 CAP Town Hall, where members were told that a follow-up letter would be provided. On October 20, Registrar Spelliscy confirmed that CAP was preparing this letter and that regulated members would receive it upon his return. However, no update or communication has been issued to date. Our group has written again requesting a timeline for its release.
On the government side, we have now received a formal letter from Minister Adriana LaGrange dated October 22, 2025, responding on behalf of the Government of Alberta. In that letter, the Minister acknowledged our concerns about CAP Policy RP013a but stated that the Ministry will not intervene, as regulatory colleges are self-governing under the Health Professions Act. The Minister advised that concerns should continue to be directed to the Fairness for Newcomers Office (FNO) and the Alberta Ombudsman. However, the FNO investigation (opened in June 2025) remains unresolved, and the Ombudsman cannot act while that review is active. This means that, despite seven months of correspondence and advocacy, there is currently no active oversight or accountability mechanism addressing CAP’s policy.
The Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA) has affirmed its support for allowing up to six EPPP attempts, consistent with other Canadian jurisdictions, but has stated that it cannot take further action beyond its published position.
We will continue to press for responses from both CAP and the Government of Alberta and will share updates as soon as any progress is made.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping to keep this issue visible.
Sincerely,
The Alberta EPPP Petition Group
