We are pleased to share an important development!
On October 9, 2025, the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA) released an official position supporting up to six total EPPP attempts within the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) five-year provisional registration period.
The PAA’s statement recommends formal remediation after the fourth attempt and a possible seventh attempt following additional graduate-level coursework. Their review found no research justification for lifetime exam caps, warning that Alberta’s current policy, a lifetime three-attempt limit, prevents qualified clinicians from entering practice amid serious mental-health workforce shortages.

This endorsement from Alberta’s professional association validates what over 1,265 signatories have voiced since April: that CAP’s lifetime EPPP cap harms access to care, equity, and Alberta’s ability to retain skilled professionals.
We continue urging the Government of Alberta and CAP Council to align policy with this evidence-based, balanced recommendation.
Thank you for your ongoing support and advocacy. Every signature helps move Alberta closer to fairness, evidence, and access to care.
