Leicester South's representative Jon Ashworth MP has yet to call for a ceasefire despite 76% of our country wanting one. His silence on a ceasefire speaks volumes and does not reflect the will and values of his constituents - us - who elected him into office, who want a ceasefire immediately.

We call on the all mosques including the Leicester Islamic Centre to stop hosting Mr Ashworth's surgeries immediately and cut all ties with him, until he publicly advocates for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict. Our trust as voters lies with those who uphold peace and justice above all else and represent our values.

As members of the Leicester Muslim community and other mosques locally, we are deeply affected by the recent Palestine-Israel conflict. The war has killed thousands of innocent lives, with half being children. This is not just a statistic; these are real innocent lives lost in a battle they did not choose to fight.

Israel's disproportionate retaliation has resulted in collective punishment, withholding food, electricity and water from Palestinians who are already suffering due to carpet bombings on homes, refugee camps and other places of refuge. This is an affront to human rights that cannot be ignored. At the time of writing over 10,000 people have been killed with nearly half being children. This is tantamount to the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians people.

Please sign this petition if you believe in standing up against injustice and holding our elected representatives accountable for their actions or lack thereof for the innocent victims of this war on both sides.
