Call on the Council to Put Kensington Church Walk on the Map

The Issue

Kensington Church Walk is a historic gem, but our independent shops are becoming invisible. We love our street’s character, but love doesn't pay the rent, footfall does. Because we are tucked away behind Kensington High Street, hundreds of shoppers walk past us every hour without ever knowing we are here.

Every day, we watch potential customers walk straight past our alley because there is no sign to welcome them. We’ve had long-time Londoners stumble upon us and say, "I've lived here twenty years and never knew this was here!" While that’s a lovely compliment, it’s also a sign of a failing system. For a small business, being "hidden" isn't a charm, it’s a threat to our survival.

The Facts

Signage Works: Research shows that 76% of shoppers have entered a store they’d never visited before simply because a sign caught their eye.

The "Discovery" Problem: Roughly 8 out of 10 people report having trouble finding a business due to poor or non-existent signage.

Low Cost, High Impact: Wayfinding signs are one of the most cost-effective ways for a council to support the local economy. It costs the council very little but can increase a small shop's visibility by over 50%.

Our Request We are calling on the Kensington & Chelsea Council to install clear, attractive wayfinding signage on the High Street. These signs should point the way to the diverse independent shops of Kensington Church Walk.

Sign this petition to protect our local heritage. Help us ensure these "hidden gems" aren't hidden forever.
