This petition started as an appeal for the NAIA to uphold its core values and ethics: Integrity, Honesty, Respect.

Unfortunately, the NAIA's reaction has been dismaying. After a May 25 reply that it would not evaluate the situation until an application was received, the National Office has been silent. Yet New College's athletics misconduct has escalated, as they have been told: 

• Misrepresentation  June 9, we received -- and immediately forwarded the NAIA National Office with context -- that New College's new dubiously-qualified coaches have been telling prospective students New College is already in the NAIA There was no response from the NAIA national office.  
• Silence from the NAIA July 1, I asked the NAIA for an update on the application. There was no response.
• A shambolic application July 14, having received New College's application in response to a Government in the Sunshine records request, I sent a letter outlining the many egregious aspects of the application to the National Office. I received no reply. 

The errors with the application -- basic mistakes in the form, the VP for Government Relations signing as a faculty member, the 1-page description of the program and 4-page evidence of institutional planning -- aren't just errors with the application. It's what the application says about New College: The evidence of institutional planning is a 4-page PDF consisting of a single email from the VP of finance on the need for a "true budget". That's not a failure to include the correct documents, it's evidence there is no institutional planning of this athletics. 

We are redoubling our efforts. If NAIA wants to abrogate its core values, its code of ethics, its commitment to student-athlete experience, it will have to abrogate its values explicitly. One thing the NAIA can never say is that they weren't told.
