Call for YouTube to change it’s policies and BAN these creators

The Issue

For a long time YouTube has been a website where people upload videos and some get lucky enough to even make money off of the content they upload. I, however, have a problem with YouTube doing NOTHING about its problematic creators just because they pull in views and make money. I’m sick and tired of seeing this platform be abused by some creators to harass, assault and prey upon victims for content or through content. I am asking that we, as a community, come together to say “hey YouTube, do something about your creators!!” I want CHANGE implemented so these people don’t have access to hurting people and profiting off of it on this website. Today I’ll be mentioning just 3 creators who have done disgusting, vile things, and make a point to mention how little or how nothing at all, has been done to them by YouTube for their bad behavior, and I would say YouTube even promotes and encourages it by doing next to nothing. Colleen Ballinger, Sssniperwolf and Daysidukestv are all problematic creators on this website that need to be deplatformed immediately before they cause even more harm.

Colleen Ballinger, also known as Miranda Sings, has had a dedicated YouTube career for over a decade. It’s time to kick her ass off. This lady groomed minors, exploited children for labor, sent fans inappropriate attire, put fans in vulnerable situations and then dismissed it, and has sent fans explicit porn of another adult creator without their knowledge, permission or consent. Now all of that might make a normal, rational person say “hey YouTube that’s really not ok, you’re cool with this happening?” But apparently YouTube is because she’s still allowed on the website and is back to making vlogs like nothing happened. We cannot let her get away with this and start another cycle of hurting children.

Lia Shelesh, otherwise known as “Sssniperwolf” on the platform, has doxxed another creator because she can’t handle fair criticism, has (now deleted) videos of her asking minors to expose their breasts to which the minors then did, and has stolen countless hours of video ideas and content from other creators because she lacks authenticity and creativity. Doxxing people because they criticized you for not even “reacting” to videos, just stating what was going on, is NOT OK. I feel like doxxing another creator should be an immediate ban, especially when you have 34.2 MILLION subscribers. She put the lives of innocent people in jeopardy because she was petty, she deserves to be taken off the website.

“DAYSIDUKESTV” is a YouTuber personality who probably thinks she’s top dog, but really isn’t shit. Peaked in high school, this lady goes around her local shopping centers and verbally, physically and sexually harasses people. From taking items out of peoples shopping carts, stealing from stores and recording it, smashing stores property for a video, to trying to grab peoples prescription medication out of their HAND and dancing provocatively, ON A STRANGER, for the hopes of a customer buying her an item at a store- this woman has got to be stopped. This is disgusting behavior and shouldn’t be allowed on YouTube. In general, rage baiting or these “prank” channels need to be stopped. It’s not a prank when you’re recording yourself committing crimes.

I’m sure there’s more going on that the platform hasn’t caught up to yet, but these three examples are examples enough to prove YouTube has ineffective policies; especially when it nearly encourages this kind of behavior from its creators. Doing nothing/not stopping the people that are hurting people is JUST AS BAD as doing the thing yourself, especially when you’re allowing it to continue on your own platform.

I want to call into question YouTube’s values and ethics, because while I understand creators have a lot of freedom, THERE NEEDS TO BE LIMITATIONS. And I feel like saying, “recording criminal actions and uploading it for views is not tolerated and will result in an immediate channel ban”is the bare minimum. I feel like saying, “doxxing individuals included but not limited to other creators, will result in an immediate channel ban” is the bare minimum. I feel like saying, “harassing and assaulting people for views will result in an immediate channel ban” is the bare. Fucking. Minimum.

it’s time we say NO to this kind of despicable content/creator behavior. Both on and off platform. If YouTube is a job ANY. OTHER. PLACE. WITH A SENSIBLE THOUGHT.  WOULD'VE FIRED THEM BY NOW??? Do they represent you, YouTube? Predators, doxxers, criminals? You’re saying they do when you say nothing.  So please, make it clear where you stand.
