Can you spot the deer under the warning sign! 👀
You might miss them if you’re not looking - especially at highway speeds, as they blend in so well! That’s why wildlife warning signs are so important. They’re clear, visible, and placed exactly where they’re needed in high-traffic stretches of road ⚠️ - like here on Highway 16, between Boundary Rd and the Yellowhead Bridge, thanks to our petition.
Signs aren’t put up without reason - if a warning sign is out there, it’s because there’s a real need for it. There has to be just cause for these signs to avoid desensitizing people to the warnings. The presence of a warning sign means the danger is real.
The photo attached to this update was taken today (April 9, 2025), looking west from the light at Boundary Road and Highway 16, where wildlife collisions frequently occur. The sign stands out - even when the wildlife (in this case, deer) do not. Their natural camouflage makes them nearly invisible until it’s too late.
We’re doing what we can to make this stretch of road safer - raising awareness, pushing for change, and ensuring the warnings are in place. Now, it’s up to drivers to do their part: NOTICE ROAD SIGNS, stay alert, and help protect both wildlife and people.
