22 DEC 2023

Another busy year, working to educate healthcare professionals, radiology students and women about dense breasts.

Great news that celebrity, Julia Bradbury, is helping to raise awareness - her cancer missed on mammogram, found later stage.

The other good news is that In certain towns in England and Scotland, the BRAID trial is picking up cancers in dense breasts that would have been otherwise missed.

BRAID: Women who attend a mammogram appointment, and dense breasts detected, may be asked to join, and may receive further scans.  So, if you are attending a mammogram - and if you want to know more, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Unfortunately, until a new screening programme is introduced, some cancers will continue to be left undetected so it is critical that you ask about your breast density - ´dense’ or ‘not dense’ (Request for Density form available) to understand if the mammogram is enough for you.

Please self-check your breasts, and if any concerns, visit your doctor or breast screening expert.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Warm wishes
