The issue

We, the undersigned, call upon the New Zealand Parliament to immediately suspend Green Party MP Benjamin Doyle pending the outcome of a full investigation into the serious concerns raised regarding his social media activity and conduct.

Recent media reports, including coverage by the New Zealand Herald and Radio New Zealand, have detailed troubling allegations about the private Instagram activity of MP Doyle. Screenshots circulated on social media and highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters have raised concerns over the nature of the content shared and followed on these accounts — some of which members of the public and political figures have described as inappropriate and deeply unsettling.

While MP Doyle has not been formally charged with any offense, the nature of the material, combined with his role as a public representative, demands immediate action. Doyle is currently on leave from Parliament following threats made against him, but a temporary leave of absence is insufficient in addressing public concern.

Therefore, we call for:

Immediate Parliamentary Suspension of MP Benjamin Doyle under Standing Orders, until the matter has been fully investigated.
A Full Criminal Investigation into the allegations by New Zealand Police and appropriate cybercrime or child protection authorities.
Transparency and Accountability in the investigation process, with findings made available to the public.
The public deserves to know that all elected officials are held to the highest moral and legal standards. Where there is even the suggestion of inappropriate conduct involving vulnerable persons, swift and decisive action is necessary to protect public trust and ensure justice is served.

This petition it demands answers. It calls on Parliament to act with urgency, protect the integrity of the House, and send a clear message that no one is above scrutiny.
