This is the story of the sole surviving pup, from the horrific & notorious Puppy Killer incident that occurred in Kurri Kurri in March 2015.  To this day it remains one of the worst Animal Abuse cases in Australia. Angel (aka Lucky) was the sole surviving pup, her 9 siblings were all murdered with a brick & tossed into the bush, like rubbish.  Left severely injured, suffering slow agonising deaths.  Angel suffered 3 fractures to her tiny little skull but miraculously survived...this is her story & hopefully her legacy!

One Lucky Angel's - Mission Statement & Vision 

The multitude of resources, time, cost, trauma etc isn't currently reflected in neglect & abuse case sentencing/punishments.  I believe Angel's story to be a true reflection of the overall, far reaching, long lasting effects & why the laws need to be changed ASAP.  Whilst the current laws see animals as property, not feeling beings,  then protection services like the RSPCA, AWL, Police, Courts etc can't fully protect these souls.  This is something that not only frustrates animal lovers, like ourselves but many, many of the people who work in these areas.  It makes their jobs tougher, often causing further unnecessary trauma & premature burn out, when they disappoint the public because they are powerless to act.

The current laws built around the archaic belief that animals are just property, allow many animals to fall through the cracks.  By the time the protective authorities can act, it's often too late!!  It allows Animals to suffer in silence & become extremely damaged.  Often requiring a lot more medical & psychological help to even begin to reflect their former selves in the happier lives they could have led....IF these incidents never occurred.  Many sadly have to be PTS or they're already dead! 

The current inadequate laws put a massive strain on the system & resources.  If the laws were changed to allow the proper level of protection before these damages occured, I believe the outcome would be a lot kinder for all involved.  Further if animals are recognised as sentient, then the Judicial system would be able to give sentences that better reflect the crime.  The courts would be able to fully take into account such things as pain, suffering & loss of life!  Something that can't be achieved whilst animals are deemed property! 

The FBI has completed extensive studies on the connection between Animal Abuse & Psychopathy.  Due to this many states in the USA, plus numerous other Countries have already changed their laws to recognise animals as sentient.  This allows the Authorities to act swiftly on reports of abuse & neglect before things get out of hand.  It also allows the Judicial system to give more appropriate sentencing, including up to 8+ years in gaol etc for the most heinous of cases.  How many more animals will suffer in silence & die, before Australia steps up & gets with the times??!  As the more time that passes before this happens, the more the above vicious cycle will continue!! 

Be a Voice for the Voiceless, play an active role in calling for much needed change.  Please sign & share the attached Petition.  Requesting that the current laws be changed to recognise that all Animals are sentient.  All animal laws, policies & procedures must also be amended to reflect this change & better protect these defenceless beings. Angel's (Lucky's) story and that of her murdered siblings, should be shared to demonstrate & educate about the need for this much needed law reform. I further suggest, that the law be called, Angel's Law (much like Oscar's & Buddy's Law) as a positive legacy & reminder born from this horrific abuse case.
