Women and teenage girls in Astoria deserve to feel safe in their own neighborhood. For months, Mallik Miah has been terrorizing the women of Astoria: sexually touching them, chasing them down streets, verbally sexually harassing teenage girls, and following mothers with their children. Every time he’s arrested (over 40 times), he’s let go the next day only to come straight back to our neighborhood to harass the women that live and work here, riding the local buses and trains in pursuit of his next victim.

What's currently being done?The 114th precinct has opened a case with the DA’s office and our city council representative, Tiffany Caban, is “pursuing mental health resources”.  Women in Astoria have created a WhatsApp chat in order to help keep each other safe, fearing what might happen if they run into Mallik. While our city officials stall, the women of Astoria feel unsafe everyday. It’s time to call for DA Melinda Katz to take this predator off the streets before he does something even worse!
