Sandy residents deserve leaders who tell the truth, run clean campaigns, and put the community first.

During this year’s mayoral race, voters across Sandy were hit with a wave of misleading, negative, and dark-money-funded mailers from the campaign of Councilmember Cyndi Sharkey. These pieces were not about issues. They were not constructive. They were crafted to attack, distort, and divide.
These tactics misled voters, eroded public trust, and lowered the standards of our local democracy.

The community responded loud and clear.
At the November 11 Sandy City Council meeting, resident after resident stepped to the podium to speak out. They expressed deep concern about the deceptive mailers, frustration over the division and misinformation, and strong support for the candidates who ran clean, honest campaigns. Many called for accountability and transparency, and several openly demanded Councilmember Sharkey’s resignation.

Sandy residents stood together to say:

“We are better than this.”

 We, the undersigned, call for the immediate resignation of Councilmember Cyndi Sharkey for:
Using disinformation and dark-money tactics in a local election
Eroding public trust and damaging community cohesion
Demonstrating conduct unbecoming of an elected official
Undermining the integrity of Sandy’s democratic process
 
Local government only works when residents can trust the people elected to represent them.

Honesty matters. Ethics matter. Integrity matters.
