Wyre Has Lost Confidence: Michael Vincent Must Resign

Action Against Jameson Road Landfill is calling for Cllr Michael Vincent to resign as Leader of Wyre Council And let’s be clear this petition is not just about Jameson Road landfill.

It is about the way residents have been treated and the way this Council has been run while Michael Vincent has been its Leader.

For nearly three years, residents living around Jameson Road have been dealing with a situation that has affected their homes, their lives. Residents have complained time and time again. We have provided evidence. We have attended meetings. Organised protests. We have asked questions. We have stood outside the Council and asked questions at full council meetings. We have done everything we can to make ourselves heard.

And yet residents are still having to fight to be listened to.

We have serious concerns about why stronger action was not taken sooner, including the handling and timing of the abatement notice against the landfill. We are fed up of the excuses.

We have seen residents spoken to at Council meetings in ways we believe are completely unacceptable.

We have seen residents who are already living with the consequences of this situation face the threat of legal action. Diary sheet evidence has been lost.

And now we have the latest developments involving vincents solicitors which have only added to the growing feeling among residents that something has gone seriously wrong.

This isn't how residents should be treated by the people elected to represent them. But Jameson Road isn't the only reason we are calling for his resignation.

There are also serious questions about the way the Hillhouse contamination issue has been handled. Residents have faced concerns surrounding historic industrial contamination, including PFOA, and questions about the safety of land, gardens and allotments in the area. The closure of the Occupation Road allotments following concerns about contaminated land has only added to the worries of local residents.

Alongside this are other decisions and issues that have happened during Michael Vincent's time as Leader. Residents have watched issue after issue unfold while confidence in Wyre Council has continued to fall. We don't believe it is good enough to simply keep telling us that things are being dealt with.

Residents want to see action and accountability there has been none of that so far.

Michael Vincent is the Leader of Wyre Council. With that position comes responsibility. We have lost confidence in the leadership of their Council, there has to be accountability.

That is why Action Against Jameson Road Landfill is calling for Cllr Michael Vincent to resign as Leader of Wyre Council.

We are asking residents across Wyre whether you have been directly affected by Jameson Road, Hillhouse, or simply believe that Wyre Council needs better leadership sign this petition. We deserve better!
