Call for an Immediate Ceasefire in the Middle East

The issue

FOR PALESTINE AND FOR ISRAEL

**Immediate Ceasefire, Peace, and the Creation of a Palestinian State in the Middle East**

We, the undersigned, express our deep concern and plea for immediate action in light of the recent terrible events in the Middle East. An appalling terrorist attack by Hamas against the Israeli people has triggered a series of attacks on the Gaza Strip by Israel, posing a significant threat to the 2.5 million Palestinian people who call it home. Tragically, a million and a half refugees now find themselves trapped in extremely dire circumstances with nowhere to turn. Among them, a majority of children.

It is of paramount importance to understand that war begets more war, and misery breeds hatred. The cycle of violence perpetuates the very conditions from which terrorism often emerges. We must recognise that terrorism is a stealthy adversary, one that cannot be defeated through war waged against entire states or peoples.

We urgently implore world leaders to apply pressure on Israel for an immediate ceasefire.

Violence begets more violence. The tragic wars following the 9/11 attacks serve as a stark reminder that wars do spawn even more, stronger terrorism. We are deeply concerned that Israel’s actions in Gaza may lead to further radicalization, more terrorist attacks worldwide, and the escalation of wars globally. The Israeli people will never have the peace they deserve.

Throughout the long and tumultuous history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, numerous significant dates have been marked by promises of peace and the creation of a Palestinian state. From the Oslo Accords to various international initiatives, these promises have regrettably remained unfulfilled.

The United Nations has officially recognised the unfolding, unprecedented humanitarian disaster in Palestine and the urge for a ceasefire and the creation of a Palestinian state.

Our plea is rooted in the belief that the future of the world relies on peace, not war. Let us unite against the prospect of an even more dangerous world and strive for peace in the Middle East. We want peace for the Israeli people as well as for the Palestinian people.

The only viable solution for lasting peace in the Middle East is the establishment of a Palestinian state. We urge world leaders to work towards this goal, taking the United Nations as a reference, to address the ongoing crisis in the region.

We call on people worldwide to join us in signing and sharing this petition urgently, demanding an immediate ceasefire and the creation of a democratic Palestinian state, the only viable solution to secure peace in the region. This is the only solution that can guarantee the people of Israel and Palestine the peace they deserve.

**Sign and share this petition urgently to make a difference and promote lasting peace. Together, we can work towards a brighter and safer world, where Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace, and Palestinians can have a place to call home for generations to come.**
