The Issue

In recent years, the expansion of datacenters and other mega consumers in the state of Texas have brought about significant challenges that require urgent attention. As these facilities continue to expand, they are placing an unprecedented strain on Texas' power grid, water resources, and people. The state and local counties have encouraged these centers with tax incentives and rushed agreements without the support of the people.

Communities across Texas are concerned about this issue. Protests and petitions are being ignored across the state and citizens are worried about the impact that these mega consumers will have on their lifestyle and property.

This petition is asking our Governor’s office to call for a special session to address the rapid growth of datacenters in our state, leading to a moratorium. These moratoriums have already been called for in other states, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Georgia, Maryland, and New York.

By signing this petition, you are collaborating to ensuring that our state's resources are preserved for future generations. We call on the Texas state legislature to prioritize this critical issue and convene a special session without delay.
