The Issue

Myself like many, am in disbelief that so much more is not being done, as a priority to combat the nations ever growing litter issue.

So Im calling for a recognised and dedicated national funding.

As parents teaching our young children the importance of environmental responsibility, we find ourselves distressed by the prevalent litter in our local area. Despite our personal efforts to clean up, the drinks bottles, cans and other forms of waste seem to multiply, recurring in the same spots, over and over again. Our attempts to raise this issue with local councillors have, unfortunately, been unsuccessful. We feel like we are waging a losing battle, as our pleas fall on deaf ears, while simultaneously reinforcing to our children the disregard many have for the environment.

Our country's roads, town centers, and motorways continue to worsen with litter, and commendable schemes shaping up to confront this issue often lack the necessary government or council backing.

This isn't merely an eyesore - it poses a severe threat to our environment and natural habitats. The improper disposal of waste causes significant harm to wildlife, contributes to climate change, and degrades our overall quality of life. The statistics reflect this troubling situation: According to Keep Britain Tidy, 2.25 million pieces of litter are dropped every day in the UK.

We believe that prevention is key: we need more bins, clear signage reminding people to dispose of litter correctly, and improved education, particularly in schools, about the impact of litter on our country and planet As a whole.

We are calling for a nationally funded effort to tackle this pressing issue, ushering in a new era of cleanliness, awareness, and respect for our shared environment.

The time is now for our government and all parties, to take urgent action, prioritizing initiatives aimed at litter prevention, waste management infrastructure, and environmental education. It's time to work together to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier future for us all.

Please join us, by signing this petition to urge national leaders to invest in the fight against litter. Striving to be the best, so we can all be proud of our nations efforts.
