This petition aims to ensure the voices of Minnesotans are heard by their elected officials at the highest level. With about 5.6 million residents, Minnesota deserves a seat at the decision-making table when it comes to national policies that directly impact their lives and liberties. We believe a referendum in Minnesota is the most democratic way to express our condemnation of President Trump's policies.

Throughout his term, several of Trump's policies have sparked controversy and distress among a significant segment of the population. His tax bill is argued to disproportionately favor the wealthy and corporations over middle-income families ("The Distributional Effects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act," Tax Policy Center). His immigration policies have also been widely criticized, with reports of family separations at the border causing lasting damage to children and their parents ("The Effects of Parent-Child Separation," Journal of Child and Family Studies).

The international decisions under his administration including the withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, and some military decisions, have also stirred up concern regarding our nation's future and its place in the world.

Calling for a referendum would not just allow us to condemn these policies, it would also provide a platform for citizens to express their genuine concerns and opinions about our national direction.
