1974, Bill Cooper and Rich O'Neil founded the Kern River Parkway Committee to protect the river through Bakersfield as an invaluable amentity for residents and a critical lifesource for wildlife. They, along with many other dedicated volunteers, business owners, and city leaders, such as Councilman Mark Salvaggio, fought many battles over the past 4 decades to protect this regional asset for future generations.
But the greatest battle for the Kern River is still being fought - the Kern River Parkway desperately needs water for its survival.
Please watch the attached message from Parkway Founder Bill Cooper, and help us spread the word to get the river back. More support for this petition makes our cause impossible to ignore. In less than 3 weeks, we have over 1400 signatures. Help us get to 1500 and then to 2000 by sharing with friends, family, and your community! Together we can help force a faster resolution to this problem that will return the mighty Kern to it's place.
