You are invited to show your support for a revised Capitol Annex Project at a
RALLY/PRESS EVENT TO SAVE OUR CAPITOL
WEDNESDAY, MAY 31, 12:00 NOON TO 2:00 PM
WEST STEPS OF THE STATE CAPITOL
The picture here shows what the West Steps and Plaza will look like if the Capitol Annex Project as currently planned goes forward. This plan will destroy the West Steps, and, therefore, an important part of our state’s history.
From reproductive rights rallies to Ag Day, if you are near the West Steps of California’s Capitol on any given day, you will find organizations rallying their members or Californians peacefully protesting. Since the 1860s, the West Steps and Plaza have been iconic symbols for free speech, demonstration and gathering. Now, the Legislature wants to rip it out to construct an underground visitor center.
Moving the Visitor Center from the West Side will preserve the Plaza and Steps as a meeting place for Californians! Join us to let our State's leaders know that the people want that gathering place preserved.
