ATTEND PUBLIC HEARINGS & SUBMIT COMMENTS ON THE REVISED CAPITOL ANNEX PROJECT
· The California Department of General Services (DGS) released a Draft Revised Environmental Impact Report for the Capitol Annex Project for public review and comment.
· The public has until June 15, 2023, to submit comments and make their voices heard.
· DGS is holding public hearings ahead of the comment period deadline:
o May 16 | 4:30 – 6:30pm
Tsakopoulos Library Galleria – East Room
828 I Street Sacramento
o June 6 | 4:30 – 6:30pm
Tsakopoulos Library Galleria – East Room
828 I Street Sacramento
· The court decision was a hard-fought victory on behalf of environmentalists, preservationists, business leaders, and more. As a result, the public now has more time to comment on the disastrous nature of the Capitol Annex Project; in particular:
o Demolishing the Annex is not necessary -- rehabilitating the Annex is feasible and cost-effective.
o There is an enormous loss of trees and public meeting spaces, including the iconic West Steps.
o The Project is a massive waste of taxpayer funds (current price tag is more than $1.2 billion) when cost-effective alternatives exist.
DEADLINE FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS IS JUNE 15, 2023 AT 5:00PM
· EVERYONE who cares about California must engage – submit comments or questions to:
