Here’s what’s new:
First, the California Preservation Foundation, the premier organization focused on historic preservation in California, has made our fight a top-tier goal for 2021! They are calling on their members to “Fight to protect the historic State Capitol East Annex and the surrounding park from proposed destruction.”
The Foundation hosted an on-line webinar featuring Public Accountability for our Capitol volunteers titled “Save Our California Capitol - A Forum to Mobilize Action.” Watch the program here:
The California Preservation Foundation‘s purpose is “to provide statewide leadership, advocacy and education to ensure the protection of California’s diverse cultural heritage and historic places.”
Second, the national Cultural Landscape Foundation has designated the Capitol Annex project as one of their Landslide projects: “an ongoing collection of important landscapes and landscape features that are threatened.” Here’s the link to what they have to say: https://tclf.org/one-hundred-historic-trees-be-felled-california-capitol
A non-profit established in 1998, The Cultural Landscape Foundation® (TCLF) connects people to places. TCLF educates and engages the public to make our shared landscape heritage more visible, identify its value, and empower its stewards. One of the ways TCLF does so is the “Landslide” collection of important, and threatened, landscapes.
We can only succeed with your help! The most important steps you can take are to:
1) SHARE THIS MESSAGE WITH YOUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, AND FAMILIES, and
2) CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR AND OTHER STATE LEADERS TO STOP THE CAPITOL ANNEX PROJECT IN ITS CURRENT FORM. You can do so using this convenient tool on our website: https://actnow.io/JPbTqol
