The International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation (ISSTD), in which Ellen Lacter acted as a point-person for their "Ritual Abuse/Mind-Control Special Interest Group", has mysteriously scrubbed her name from their website since this petition was posted to change.org. While this may seem like progress, the fact is, the problem isn't Ellen Lacter herself, but the propagation of delusional conspiracist narratives of Satanic cult crimes and Government mind-control plots, sold to the mentally vulnerable by licensed mental health professionals. The fact that the ISSTD still lists the Ritual Abuse/Mind-Control Special Interest Group, but have simply taken Lacter's name off of it, indicates that they are not resolving the problem, merely washing their hands of any liability related to it. But then, it could well be that the ISSTD is inextricably tied to lunatic Satanic Panic claims, and to disown conspiracism would be to alienate the vast majority of their dues paying membership. With little empirical support for even their most mundane claims about dissociative disorders, they seem unwilling to renounce the clearly bizarre, ludicrous, and debunked claims of their most disturbed true believers.
