We are urging all our local supporters (especially in Daly City and San Mateo County) to write the Daly City Council by email to voice your opposition to the proposed geotechnical testing for the Olympic Way Retreat Center - UPR 09-20-014692 – Coastal Development Permit both before and (if possible again) during the City Council Meeting on December 14th (7PM).
Email address: citycouncil@dalycity.org
Points our supporters offer:
-
Land should remain as open space preserved for our community for recreational use.
-
This land lies in between the Thornton Vista and Fort Funston and includes the one trail down to the beach. It is an area long used by locals and Bay Area residents for dog walking, hiking, paragliding, fishing, horseback riding. It has beautiful views and should remain as it is, unspoiled and undeveloped.
-
Land is in an earthquake zone right next to the San Andreas Fault and with the recent death in late February 2019 at Fort Funston due to the eroding sandy bluffs, why would anyone would want to build on this land?
-
Is this really a religious retreat center or is it a future hotel - with 23 "guest rooms" in the plan? Do we need a religious retreat center (has your church heard of this project) and can't they find somewhere else to build that?
Please note: The only comments which will get read out at the meeting are those submitted DURING the meeting. Watch the meeting live on Daly City YouTube channel Daly City Video Meetings.
Thank you for supporting open space on Thornton Beach Bluff!
