I want to update you on a few important things and include action steps you can take to support the movement to change the current James Caldwell High School Native American mascot and name.

Updates

-We now have over 3,250 signatures on our petition, and have caught the attention of the Board of Education. We have to keep the pressure on them to change the mascot!

-We have launched our website, changethechiefs.com, which includes direct action steps, accounts from Native Americans, and various resources regarding Native American mascots.

-We want to bring to your attention the in-depth FAQ we created, which addresses any possible questions and concerns regarding the change of the JCHS mascot. We encourage you to utilize this resource for your own questions, and share it with community members who may have been expressing their own concerns.

Action Steps

1. Continue to sign AND share the petition to as many people as you can.

2. Email and contact the Board of Education directly, urging them to change the 'Chiefs' mascot.

3. The best way to share our movement on social media is to post a video of yourself talking about the movement, your experience with the JCHS mascot, and direct action steps to help change the mascot. Please tag us on Instagram @changethechiefs!
