This is what the email states:
"As a Cal Poly Pomona student, myself and many others have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and money has become tighter than usual. Seeing the tuition remain the same seems unfair during this unfortunate circumstance.
Each student has their own struggles with COVID-19. Some have lost their jobs, some are parents, and some have lost their loved ones to the virus. It is much more difficult to focus with all these added stresses. On top of that, we have to adjust to virtual learning, thus investing in more electronic devices, or some being forced to drop out due to not having the means to afford it.
We believe tuition should be adjusted to a lower amount, considering we will not be on campus using any of the facilities offered in person. When looking at a breakdown of CPP’s tuition fees on https://www.cpp.edu/student-accounting/tuition-fees/fall2020.shtml we are being charged $848.11 for On-Campus Based fees.
Many students agree that we are already not getting the same level of education through online instruction. It is much more difficult to learn at home, from the distractions to the lack of resources available to us. Hence, paying full for a virtual education is not reasonable.
