Revoke Cake International's CMMA2019 award

The Issue

Cake International has been shown to have serious integrity issue, during their handling of an entry by a Hong Kong contestant after pressure from a group of pro-China competitors. The issue has been widely reported by reputable international media including the Quartz, The Telegraph, The Guardian, New York Post, Daily Mail and the BBC News.

Not only Cake International has chosen to side with supporters of a totalitarian regime, helping them to suppress freedom of speech, when discovered they have chosen to make a false statement publicly on Facebook. Their deliberate misleading statement tried to shift the blame to the cake not being the right size, when in fact the reason for removal was highly politically motivated.

Cake International so far has taken the hardliner approach, similar to what a totalitarian regime would do, by refusing to apologise for their mistake and retract their false statement. Their effort to suppress freedom of expression, and to mislead the public with false statement is despicable.

I urge the Cake Masters Magazine Award to immediately disqualify Cake International as a sponsor for all future events, and revoke the award given to them at your CMMA 2019 event. We shall pursue maximum media publicity until Cake International faces its wrong doings, and stops suppressing freedom of expression as well as making false public statements.
