We’re Safer than Walmart

We’re Safer than Walmart
The Issue
Professional estheticians, hair stylists, barbers, nail technicians, massage therapists and make up artists have once again been put out of work. I have been a licensed esthetician since 2007. I finally decided to open my own studio in January 2020. I was open for 9 weeks before the shutdown. I was finally allowed to reopen in June 2020, only to be forced to shut down again three weeks later.
Even prior to COVID19, California upheld some of the highest sanitation standards in the country. Our beauty industry and personal care service locations, including spas, salons and small studios are sanitized to the highest standards between each guest. Our tools and equipment are cleaned with high-quality disinfectants and our products are wiped down between guests. New COVID19 guidelines have been implemented, including the use of personal protective equipment, temperature checks and social distancing, wherever possible. Safety is our primary goal; we are taking every precaution to protect the health of ourselves and our guests.
I work out of a Sola Salon Studio. I have a private studio that allows for one guest to be in the room at a time. The services I offer are personal and cannot be preformed outside. I am confident that my guests and I are safe in this clean environment. I am personally much more comfortable being in my studio with a guest than walking into a giant chain store. I can guarantee that my space is a cleaner and safer environment, but most stores are allowed to remain open because they have been deemed essential.
While beauty industry and personal care services may not be considered “essential” businesses, we really do provide services that help people feel better. In these unprecedented times, people need something to look forward to. A professionally styled hair cut can assist an individual to prepare for a job interview or advance within their profession. A facial or massage can release some built up tension. If you have acne or another visible skin condition, treatments can raise your self esteem. Whether you are having your nails done, getting waxed or getting a hair cut, beauty industry professionals are here to help you relax, talk to you, encourage you and make you feel better about yourself, even if only for an hour.
I’m asking you to help us, so we may help you! Please sign this petition to help California Spas, Salons and all personal care services to not only re-open for all our services immediately, but to allow us to remain open.
