Please Make The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair a Soft, But Not Complete Reboot

As Narnia fans, we are concerned that the upcoming adaptation of The Silver Chair, because it is a reboot midway through the franchise, may disappoint fans and make the film harder to market. We respectfully request the film not be a complete do-over, but rather a soft reboot. We believe that it’s possible keep a sense of continuity while also allowing the filmmakers to add to the already existing cinematic vision of Narnia. We ask that the logo remain the same, which will help with marketing, and hope that musical themes from the first three movies will be employed in the film, similar to the way some musical continuity was kept in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

While Will Poulter may not be able to return, Ben Barnes, Peter Dinklage, Gary Sweet, and Liam Neeson should be able to reprise their roles as Caspian, Trumpkin, Drinian, and Aslan, respectively, the first three of which are very small roles in the book. Since most of The Silver Chair takes place North of Narnia and years after The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, this should allow for plenty of freedom to add a creative spin to the already existing vibrant cinematic world of Narnia.

Efforts to preserve continuity will also be rewarded when adaptations of the other books are made, especially The Magician’s Nephew and The Horse and His Boy, which are closely tied to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This may seem like fan service or nostalgia (it has been over 12 years since the first film was released), but it will nevertheless help with marketing and box office. Adding these proven, requested elements will satisfy the already existing loyal fan base while attracting a new audience that will be drawn to the future releases of Narnia material.

Thank you for your attention and consideration.
