Demand Congressman Byron Donalds Be Held Accountable!

The people who invaded Capitol Hill today do not embody my constituents’ values and heart, and they will not alter my decision to object to the Electoral College certification,” Donalds tweeted before the vote.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, dictates the removal of legislators for insurrection or rebellion.

Newly elected Republican Congressman Byron Donalds (FL) engaged in efforts to delay the certification of the election in the pro forma session thereby dishonoring his Constitutionally mandated duty. By this vote, he attempted to discredit the results of our electoral process which makes him, as well as the 138 other House members, complicit in this coup attempt. Therefore, Mr. Byron Donalds does not embody the values and heart of patriotic Americans.

As a lawmaker, he has sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States. By engaging in this heinous act of sedition, Mr. Donalds should face immediate consequences. He must be held to account by employing the use of sanctions, censure, removal from committee assignments and expulsion. No matter how small his role, he was attempting to circumvent the will of the voting public. His vote was adverse to the rights of the people and our country. Furthermore, he has expressed no remorse for partnering with those who sought to invalidate the Electoral College Votes.

Alexander Hamilton stated in the Federalist Papers #27 that “the hope of impunity is a strong incitement to sedition; the dread of punishment, a proportionably strong discouragement to it”. That is why the consequences should be immediate and leave a stain on him. We hold in high regard the role of government and the peaceful transition of power that is the core of our Democracy! His removal from office is warranted.
