Hey again-

Just wanted to give you guys another quick update. I heard back from Diana Abasta, president of the Burbank Teachers Association earlier today and she said that BTA “understands our concerns, because [they] have them too.” Which is good to know.

And though he did not reply to my email yet, Board of Education member Steve Ferguson’s email response to another parent today is encouraging. It reads, in part:

“Thank you for taking the time to reach out. I would like to see the final survey results before making a call, but I believe that there have been a sufficient number of concerns raised about both the hybrid and ILA models that it is best to continue with our current distance model for the remainder of the year. It is my hope that we can take the remainder of the semester and gather feedback about our current distance model, to improve next semester, and to build additional supports for those students who are struggling.”

I know it’s not much yet, but it is encouraging. Thank you for adding your voice to the aforementioned “sufficient number of concerns” by signing this petition. We are definitely making our voices heard.

So, please keep sharing and spreading the word about the petition. We hit the 675 signature mark today and I am confident we can top 1,000 signers by Monday. We got this!

Talk soon-

Tomás
