Dear Burn Members,
Again, thank you for standing with our training staff and signing the petition calling for accountability and meaningful change. Your support has sent a clear message: this community values transparency, respect, and leadership that reflects our shared commitment to integrity and building a strong community that supports one another.
Following the staff’s courageous decision to stand up for themselves on Wednesday—and the overwhelming support from this community—a staff meeting was scheduled with gym owner Christina Peebles. Today, the staff entered that conversation with clarity, purpose, and the full backing of the Burn Beachwood community. They advocated respectfully and directly, asked critical questions, and pressed for honest answers and a real plan.
The team members who participated in the meeting have shared the details with us and have given full permission for this summary to be shared with all who signed the petition.
Unfortunately, the meeting did not achieve the intended clarity or accountability they’d hoped for.
Despite Christina’s prior commitment to present a comprehensive plan, she failed to offer any meaningful strategy for addressing the gym’s ongoing challenges. When asked about her plan to improve operations, strengthen communication, and support staff, her only response was that she would “try harder”—a phrase that has been repeated for years without action.
Key takeaways from the meeting include:
- Lack of a Real Plan: Christina shared no formal or structured plan for moving forward. When pressed, she provided a vague list of six bullet points, including items like “monthly training meetings” and “daily communications”—with no timelines, tasks, or accountability attached.
- Unclear Details/Timelines Around Sale: Christina stated that she is in the process of selling the business but declined to provide any verifiable details. The only information she offered was that the potential buyer “lives in the area,” and is “eager to buy,” but has never visited the gym and has no connection to the community. When staff asked why members or current staff had not been offered the opportunity to purchase the gym, Christina provided no response.
- Unidentified Partners: She claimed to have brought on a franchise partner to act on her behalf as a proxy when not available. She also claimed to have posted an Operations Manager role on Indeed. Yet, she would not share who the proxy is, and staff were unable to locate any such job posting. She later included a name and phone number, in a word doc (presumably for the proxy) but no clarification on the individual’s role or who the individual was.
Failure to Commit to Leadership Presence: When asked when she would next be coming to Cleveland or whether she would consider promoting an internal staff member into the Operations Manager role, Christina again gave no response. - Minimal Ownership of Past Failures: Staff asked Christina to issue a message to members acknowledging her past and current shortcomings. She agreed but shared multiple drafts that were vague and lacked accountability.
Request for Town Hall: Staff insisted that Christina speak directly with members. She has indicated she will not meet with members as a group, only individually upon request.
Despite the lack of clarity or action on Christina’s part, the staff stood firm. They represented your voices, made clear demands, and stayed committed to keeping this gym running—especially with weekend camps ahead. Their professionalism and care for this community remain evident at every turn.
We remain proud to support this team, and we will continue to keep you updated as more unfolds. Thank you for standing with us.
Sincerely,
Your Fellow Burn Beachwood Believers
