Remove the word, "Eskimo," from BIA Paperwork
The Issue
The Bureau of Indian Affairs needs to remove the word, "Eskimo," from their documents. The word, "Eskimo," should not be used to describe a person's cultural identity.
The BIA needs to realize that they are sanctioning the usage of this derogatory word and it needs to stop. We are not Eskimo, we are Iñupiat, Yup'ik, Cup'ig, Siberian Yupik, Sugpiaq, and Koniag Alutiiq.
