Building Bridges: The Crucial Partnership Between Families and Schools

Building Bridges: The Crucial Partnership Between Families and Schools

The Issue

In the social fabric of education, one thread stands out as indispensable yet often overlooked: the bond between families and schools. This alliance forms the foundation upon which a child's educational journey rests, yet it is too frequently undervalued in our desire for educational reform. It's time to recognize the impact of family-school partnerships and enhance their integration into the very heart of our educational system.

This petition holds a deep personal resonance because when families take an active part in their child's education, the positive impacts reverberate through the entire learning ecosystem. As a concerned party, we see an urgent need for a significant increase in collaboration between families and schools. It's not just about volunteers for school activities - it's about including families in significant decisions that shape a child's educational journey.

By fostering meaningful collaboration between families and schools, we can create a community where every child has the opportunity to thrive. Let us recognize the pivotal role of families as partners in education and work tirelessly to strengthen this foundational bond for the betterment of our children and society as a whole. National PTA identifies standards that can help improve the family-school partnerships. Welcoming all families, communicating effectively, supporting student success, speaking up for every child, sharing power and collaborating with the community. By implementing these standards in any school district there is a better opportunity that students can succeed.

We ask three things from you.

  1. Encourage your school to implement these standards in your child's school.
  2.  Share with all stakeholders the importance of building a strong family-school partnership.
  3.  Sign this petition so we can share with the schools how important we believe in strong family-school partnerships.
