Building a Safer World: Wiping out Violence Against Women
Masalahnya
Opening: We, the people of Indonesia, stand together to end gender inequality and violence against women. Despite progress, physical violence against women is still widespread and deeply harms victims and their families.
Most of this violence happens in personal relationships. In 2023, the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) reported 289,111 cases of violence against women. On average, they received 16 reports every day. This shows the urgent need for stronger action.
Although Article 454 of the Criminal Code and the TPKS Law ban forced marriage and violence against women, many women remain unprotected due to weak enforcement.
We urge the government and authorities to:
- Enforce laws protecting women from violence.
- Provide more support services like shelters, counseling, and legal aid.
- Run public campaigns to challenge harmful gender norms.
- Teach gender equality in schools.
By signing this petition, we demand stronger actions to stop violence against women and promote gender equality in Indonesia. Together, we can create a safer and fairer society.
