Given the recent Lidcombe Rise development there is now a greater amount of people crossing Church Street than ever before, including many families with young children. The current set up of the road in front of the complex (between Swete St and Martin St) does not allow safe crossing of the road.

Building a dedicated pedestrian crossing on this section of road will allow:

• easier access for residents to Lidcombe train station
• safer crossing for families/children walking to the nearby public school or child care centres
• easier access to Lidcombe town centre, encouraging more residents to use small businesses in the area
• easier access to the proposed Pippita Rail Trail which is planned to utilise the opposite side of Church Street

Now is the perfect time for Cumberland Council to act on this request given the increased amount of residents in the area and the synergies with the proposed road changes as part of the Pippita Rail Trail master plan.
