The Issue

To ensure the new GP surgery for Wichelstowe is delivered now. Wichelstowe has been developed over the last 20 years with the promised GP surgery having not been for filled despite planning permission, allocated land and GPs hoping to take ownership. The failure to deliver has put huge strain on other GP surgeries having to accept large numbers of new residents on to already full surgeries. This has harmed families and waiting times in these local surgeries. Our local conservative councillors and candidates are holding NHS bodies to account and push for action to resolve this issue.

We the residents of Wroughton and Wichelstowe call upon Secretary of state for Health and Integrated Care Board to deliver the new GP surgery at Wichelstowe as soon as possible.

Over the last 20 years large numbers of individuals and families have moved to the area and had been promised a new GP facility which has still not been built with the latest delay being caused by the Integrated Care Boards strategic plan for Swindon and no time lines have been given for the completion of the new GP practice.

The continued postponement is causing undue strain on other GP surgeries with a particular attention being given to the Ridgeway View Family Practice.

We therefore call for the following:

1. A binding time table and delivery commitment - The ICB must publish a realistic plan with firm milestones and confirm an opening date for Wichelstowe GP Surgery.

2. Public accountability and transparency - We request that Health and Wellbeing board hold a formal session with the ICB to explain the delays and agree clear remedies.

3. Long-term health infrastructure planning - Ensure future primary care capacity planning reflects local growth and prevents similar issues as Swindon continues to expand.
