For decades, infrastructure in Pewaukee has progressively become more car-dependent. Driving alternatives such as walking and cycling have become almost infeasible, leaving driving as essentially the only option for transport around the community. The increased volume of cars makes the streets unsafe for pedestrians and children while also limiting the freedom of children because of lack of transportation options. Until citizens are able to drive, they can't get around the community.

The transition away from car-dependency is happening across the globe, but Pewaukee remains behind in the movement. Other areas have realized the economic, social, and developmental benefits of walk-able and bike-able communities. This movement is possible and has happened before, but the only way to make change is to advocate for it.
