The Issue

We are ABQ residents who swim year-round for our health, well-being, exercise, fun and competition.

But the city still hasn't built an indoor Olympic Pool in our neighborhoods which it promised to do in 2005.

Our neighborhoods are the only part of the city without an indoor year-round public swimming pool.

Our neighborhoods include:

  • Families needing to swim for fun and recreation.
  • Families wanting their kids to learn to swim.
  • Individuals needing water therapy, rehabilitation and weight control.
  • Lots of teens asking for 'something to do'.
  • High school, Masters, Senior Olympic swimmers, and their team coaches needing an indoor Olympic Pool for year-round training, practice and competition.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), swimming is one of the most effective ways to stay healthy and fit. It helps maintain healthy bones and muscles while also improving cardiovascular fitness without putting too much strain on our bodies.

An indoor Olympic Pool at North Domingo Baca Park would help provide ABQ residents with healthy physical activity, fun and competition regardless of weather conditions.

Please urge the city to find enough money and build the indoor Olympic Pool first. Sign this petition.
