Out of financial necessity, the Aquatic Center (AC) design was adjusted.
This adjustment shortened the indoor recreation and competition pool from 60 meters to 50 meters. Why? To lower construction costs.
The good news is that Mayor Tim Keller (first mayor to oversee AC groundbreaking), city councilors (especially District 4 Councilwoman Brook Bassan) and state legislators (see listing below) are determined to help neighborhoods complete the first public indoor swimming facility in far Northeast ABQ.
More good news is that Bradbury Stamm Construction (BSC) is expected to begin building the indoor natatorium's shell this summer.
BSC Construction is close to completing the recreation, therapy and competition pools' utility infrastructures, pump room and HVAC systems.
It is necessary to continue our efforts and secure additional public funding needed to bring this community development project to completion.
Please continue to lobby our mayor, your city councilor, and state legislators for additional funding.
