October 29 CORRECTION IN BOLD
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, DISTRICT 31
If elected as your next State Representative, I am looking forward to making sure that the North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center is funded, and the project is completed.
As a mother of three with one still in high school, I know how important it is for our children to have a place where they can gather with their friends as well as together as family all while getting great exercise.
My son is a wrestler at La Cueva high school and the conditioning that swimming would give him and other athletes throughout the year are invaluable: cardiovascular, muscle and flexibility, body control, breathing techniques and mental focus and relevance.
The Aquatic Center will also bring business to our community by holding city, and state competitions. This will also bring business to our community by holding city, state and national competitions. Hotels will be booked; our restaurants will be filled, and local stores will be utilized.
I have been in the health plan field for almost 25 years, and I know that swimming is one of the best ways for our seniors and those with limited physical mobility to exercise that won't hurt their joints and will give them both strength and cardio resistance.
I am a strong believer in finishing what was started, and I will fight for our district to complete this very important project.
The North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center marks an important addition to the city's recreational facilities for all to use and enjoy.

The North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center marks an important addition to the city's recreational facilities for all to use and enjoy.
This facility will benefit swimmers of all ages throughout the state. High Schools in the metro area will have year-round access for swim team practices. Swim teams throughout the state will be able to hold swim meets at the aquatic center, as it allows for both long course and short course pool set up options for competition.
Additionally, this pool could serve as a training location for out of state competitive teams that want to train specifically in higher altitude environment.
Swimming is a great exercise that is easy on the joints and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. This aquatic center will be handicap accessible and have built in options for access to the pool.
Since this aquatic center is not affiliated with a school, the hours of availability will not be limited to hours outside of school sessions or swim team practice times.
There will be an indoor warm pool, in addition to the Olympic size pool, where swimming can be enjoyed by all as long as the facility is open.
Having one more place where New Mexicans can teach their children how to swim to avoid the tragedy of drownings that occur each year, is critical.
The in-state swim meets, inter-state competitions and out-of-state team training options, provide an economic opportunity for Albuquerque and New Mexico as teams, their families and supporters stay overnight in hotels, enjoy meals at local restaurants and perhaps even stay extra time to explore our city.
If elected as your next State Representative, I will work with the city and others to ensure the Center gets the funding it needs.
