I heard at a meeting on Wednesday that we will need to raise addition funding to complete the indoor pools. We will ask ABQ Parks & Rec Chief David Simon how much more will be needed and share that amount with you later. It would help to know how much capital outlay to ask for when we talk to our state lawmakers. They're going door-to-door in our neighborhoods, asking for our votes.
EYES ON CONTRACT, QUESTIONS: We have copies of CABQ/Brad-Stamm contract. Questions for Chief Dave Simon:
- The contractor is currently developing site & infrastructure for the mechanical building, only. Correct?
- Mechanical building equipment will provide water circulation, filtration & sanitation systems for the indoor warm (therapy) pool and competition pool only. Correct?
- The therapy (warm) pool and competition pool will have separate water circulation, filtration & chlorine sanitation systems. Correct?
- The outdoor recreation pool is called the "leisure" pool in the contract. Correct?

DISTRICT 4 ELECTIONS: Our NM State House and Senate lawmaking seats are open for election. The two lawmakers who held those seats retired, as you recall.
Representative Bill Rehm and Senator Mark Moores are strong Aquatic Center supporters. Since day one, Bill and Mark consistently shared their capital outlay with the Aquatic Center. Thank you, Bill. Thank you, Mark. You will be missed. Enjoy retirement!
Two candidates are running for Bill's seat, and two candidates are running for Mark's seat. They are going door-to-door, introducing themselves and asking for our votes.
Democratic Party: Vicky Estrada-Bustillo is running for Bill's seat in the House. Athena Christodoulow is running for Mark's seat in the Senate.
Republican Party: Nicole Chavez is running for Bill's seat in the House. Nicole Tobiassen is running for Mark's seat in the Senate.
When you talk to them, please share that our indoor pools will need more capital outlay when the 60-day session begins in January 2025. Ask what they would be willing to do to help us if they win on November 5th. Please share their responses in Petition's Comment Section.

We begin with Vicky Estrada-Bustillo's statement. Vicky is one of the 1,200-plus indoor Aquatic Center supporters who signed our Petition:
"The North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center marks an important addition to the city's recreational facilities for all to use and enjoy. Like everyone, I'm looking forward to its full opening. I commend the advocates who have worked so tirelessly to see this new facility get off the ground. As a State Representative, I will work with the city and others to ensure the Aquatic Center gets the funding it needs."
