Hello Everyone! If we can pull together and get 8 people to sign our petition about this important initiative, we will have reached 100! We need an ecologically sustainable solution to the pier issue and Blue Pier will do that for our community. Let's DO THIS!...because we can ;) On another note, I went to the St. Pete Downtown Waterfront Master Plan and the theme was MORE public space, MORE green space, decreasing, if not almost fully eliminating, vehicular traffic along Bayshore Drive -- even extending Straub Park down to the water and including bike and pedestrian lanes along the water. They talked about removing parking lots that tie up land and converting them to parkland and activated public space. WOW. The pier "idea" they had for the uplands had, you guessed it, park land, traffic basically stopped before it reaches the pier uplands and spa beach, a possible tram, greenery, maybe a nature walk area...in short, Blue Pier would fit amazingly into the overall plan, long-term vision for our city, and the philosophy of the Waterfront Master Plan. Here are some links related to the project: http://www.stpeteinnovision.com/ http://www.stpete.org/city_initiatives/downtown_waterfront_master_plan.php Get involved! This has always been about engaging the city to invest in more ecologically-sound solutions for future development of our community. It has always been about more public green space. Blue Pier galvanizes that mission with a cohesive, sustainable, vision for our pier an for our future. Share the petition and let's make 100!
