Build a Skatepark in Egg Harbor City

Build a Skatepark in Egg Harbor City
The Issue
As a skateboarder myself, I used to have the great convenience of walking just half a mile to enjoy skating. However, since the local skatepark was torn down in early July, a thriving center for community activity has been erased, leaving a void in recreational spaces in Egg Harbor City, NJ. Now, both children and adults, including myself, must travel over 30 minutes to an hour outside our city to find suitable areas to skate. This situation is not only inconvenient but also disheartening for the many skateboarders in our community.
Building a skatepark in Egg Harbor City would provide a fantastic solution, offering an inclusive space where both kids and adults can skateboard safely and freely within our neighborhood. It’s not just about establishing a skatepark; it’s about reinforcing a community spirit, creating a healthy outlet for exercise, and fostering a strong sense of belonging among residents. According to the American Heart Association, skateboarding helps improve endurance, coordination, and strength, making it an excellent choice for physical fitness for all ages.
Furthermore, skateparks serve as safe hubs where people can gather, practice, and showcase their skills. Establishing a new skatepark would positively impact the community, by bringing more people into the hobby. A hobby that is great outlet for mental health and physical health.
The demand for a new skatepark in Egg Harbor City is both strong and justified by the significant number of skaters and the community’s previous usage of the now-defunct park. By signing this petition, you are voicing your support for returning a vital recreational resource to Egg Harbor City, promoting healthy habits, and bringing our community together in a positive, constructive way. Please join us in urging city officials to prioritize the construction of a new skatepark in Egg Harbor City. Sign the petition today to make this much-needed recreational space a reality.
