Build a public park in Crown Pointe neighborhood

The Issue

Crown Pointe is home to nearly 2,000 families, yet there is no public park within walking distance. When kids lack safe, accessible places to play, they don’t stop needing movement or connection. They simply end up indoors and on screens. Community members are ready to privately fund, plan, and implement a neighborhood park at no cost to taxpayers. By signing this petition, you can help show the City of Lincoln that this community supports moving this project forward to serve Crown Pointe families for generations to come.

Why This Matters
Parks are not optional. They are essential for healthy childhood development.

When outdoor play is unavailable, screen time fills the gap. Excessive screen use has been linked to:

  • Increased anxiety and attention issues
  • Poor sleep quality
  • Reduced physical activity
  • Delayed social and communication skills

On the flip side, children with access to outdoor play:

  • Move more and build stronger motor skills
  • Experience lower stress and better mental health
  • Learn social skills like sharing, communication, and confidence
  • Develop independence and resilience
  • Playgrounds give kids a reason to choose movement and imagination over tablets and TVs.

The Impact on Crown Pointe
Without a nearby park:

  • Kids have fewer safe, screen-free options for play
  • Parents have limited alternatives to indoor entertainment
  • Community connection is harder to build
  • This affects thousands of children and families, both now and in the future.
  • No kids? Parks create safer, more connected neighborhoods and increase home values for all residents.

Our Ask
We are urging local leaders to prioritize the development of a public park in Crown Pointe.

A neighborhood park would:

  • Reduce reliance on screens by offering safe outdoor play
  • Support physical, mental, and social health
  • Create a gathering place for families and neighbors
  • Strengthen the long-term vitality and of the neighborhood

Take Action
Please sign this petition to support a public park in Crown Pointe. Our kids deserve a place to play, not another reason to stay indoors.
