Build a NEW Mobile Civic Center THEATER!

Build a NEW Mobile Civic Center THEATER!
The Issue
Since 1964, the Mobile Civic Center Theater has been the home stage for scores of local & regional dance studios + civic organizations including Mobile Ballet, Mobile Symphony and Mobile Opera to produce their end of the year recitals and concerts, respectively. Our theater is also home to multiple national dance competition tours, the Distinguished Young Women National Finals and many other events.
With an immediate plan to raze the entire Mobile Civic Center property to the ground, multiple organizations are now deprived of a large scale, fully functional theater to produce their shows. Without this type of venue, all of these organizations are desperately seeking a new, adequate home, of which Mobile, AL cannot currently replicate nor provide.
It is MOST URGENT that a NEW, STATE OF THE ART THEATER is to be constructed simultaneously alongside the new arena, of which that plan is currently moving forward. This new theater must be a minimum of 1,900+ seats, a tremendous stage of 90x60', full rail line, large scale dressing rooms and more, just as our current theater currently boasts - in addition to full 21st century technology in lighting and sound which has been lacking for years.
From a personal place, my grandmother, Mary Lou Sheffield-Noletto and Sheffield School of the Dance was the FIRST dance studio to ever utilize this now famous stage upon it's opening in 1964. She is a pioneer and trailblazer for the dance community of Mobile. Her contributions to the art have awarded her 3 Keys to the City of Mobile, multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards and a 80+ year legacy studio that is internationally acclaimed. Without her, the dance community of Mobile would not be what it is today.
To Mayor Sandy Stimpson & the City Of Mobile, we need you to HEAR THE ARTS COMMUNITY and put the theater project at the top of your list for the Mobile Civic Center re-development project. Dubbing a new theater as a "future project" is not sufficient for an entire arts community that is in need. A NEW Mobile Civic Center Theater is 100% ESSENTIAL, not an option.
Let's go Mobile Arts Community, let's get LOUD and make a difference!
