In recent years, our community has faced the devastating impacts of both Hurricane Helene and Tropical Storm Fred. It is only fitting that we honor the memory of those we have lost and provide a place of solace and remembrance for their loved ones.

FEMA has recently purchased a few of the condemned properties on Hidden Valley Circle that were destroyed in both storms, and the county tore them down last week. These empty lots would be a perfect spot to honor our community. 

I am proposing the construction of a memorial to pay tribute to the victims of these tragic storms. The memorial would include a tree planted for each life lost, a memorial bench, and a community garden.

This memorial will serve as a lasting tribute to those we lost and signify strength of our community.

We urge the county officials to approve this project and allocate the necessary resources to bring this vision to life.
