In just the last 15 days, this contaminated tanker water has made countless families sick. We are seeing a widespread outbreak of waterborne illnesses, with gastroenteritis (loose motions and vomiting) spreading rapidly through our neighborhoods.

This crisis has underscored the urgent need for a sustainable and reliable solution to Navi Mumbai's water problems. The current situation is not only affecting our daily lives but also endangering public health, with vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions at heightened risk. This is a problem that cannot be ignored any longer.

One promising solution to this crisis is the construction of a desalination plant. Desalination is a process that turns seawater into drinkable water, providing a reliable and constant source of freshwater. Given Navi Mumbai's coastal location, a desalination plant could be a feasible and long-term solution to our water woes. Countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia successfully employ desalination to meet their water needs and ensure public health.

Building a desalination plant in Navi Mumbai would not only address the present crisis but also secure the city’s water future amid the increasing challenges posed by rapid urbanization and climate change. It would reduce our dependency on inadequate water supplies and private water tankers that often provide questionable quality water.
