As many of you are aware the coronavirus outbreak in the UK has become increasingly concerning. With currently 590 cases in the UK and 104 in London, many students are concerned about their health and well-being.

Other institutions such as Kings College London and LSE have taken action by cancelling examinations and moving upcoming tutorials and lectures online.
As the university is well aware, many students use public transport to get to university, an area where there is an increased risk of transmission of the virus. Mass gatherings also increase the risk of transmission of the virus. This puts us, students, at-risk particularly in lectures and potentially when sitting our exams too.
Hillingdon Hospital, which is only a short walk away from the university currently has 3 confirmed cases.
The uncertainty and danger of this outbreak has made many of us students anxious about what we should and shouldn't be doing as well as impacting our mental state during the revision period. Providing hand sanitizer is not enough, the university needs to start taking stricter preventative measures to ensure that its students are safe.

We are requesting the university to take the following action:
- Postpone/cancel exams until the situation is under control.
- Perhaps provide other means of assessment like giving coursework in place of written examinations.
- Introduce online teaching for the remaining lectures/seminars.
