The beautiful Clovelly Bay is part of the Bronte-Coogee Aquatic reserve but most people are unaware that fishing inside this protected bay is still allowed. In recent times groups of fishermen have often been observed fishing through the night and this is increasing. As a semi enclosed body of water this unique habitat is especially sensitive to changes to the numbers of reef fish and marine creatures that inhabit the bay. The sudden reduction of breeding age species can take decades to recover. Such is the popularity of this protected bay, you only need view the many Youtube downloads of underwater footage taken by snorkelers to see how species such as bream, whiting and more have been depleted over recent years. This beautiful and unique habitat has provided so much pleasure, education and marine appreciation for generations of children, adults, families and world travellers. Lets preserve this for future generations before it is too late.
