This week the Museums Association Journal carried the story of Sir Antony Gormley’s open letter to Broxbourne Borough Council, thereby spreading the word further afield about the dreadful decision to close Lowewood Museum. 
Figures recently released indicate that including outreach services the Museum provided the opportunity for over 8000 of the Borough’s children to broaden their knowledge by providing them with access to its educational resources. Just today a local school visited the new Moon Landing Exhibition enabling them to learn about an event which took place 50 years ago. For many of us it is still within our living memory, but for those children man’s adventures in space are part of the history which they now study.
